David Mercer, tennis commentator
[edit]Tennis commentator David Mercer started his career as a solicitor and ran his own firm in Swansea for nine years.
He started working as a freelance in sports broadcasting for BBC Wales in 1979.
For a time he combined his legal practice with BBC work and public relations duties for the Law Society.
Tennis is his main sport - he won the Welsh Junior Doubles in 1968 and had the distinction of umpiring the Connors-McEnroe Wimbledon final of 1984.
He has also commentated on a variety of other sports, from football and rowing to skiing and American football.
Away from work, David is a keen sportsman, playing racquet sports, rugby, football and cricket.
Mr.Mercer commentates for a number of TV channels in addition to the BBC, including Eurosport.
