Maisel is NOT the founding chairman of Marvel Studios. The sources clearly put him in the Vice Chair post prior to becoming Chairman, thus some else was chair before him. I even add a source for Avi Arad as the former chair, which was changed as if it supported that notion. Spshu (talk) 17:06, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like it is just a nominal title. That said, Avi should get credit where he is due. Sources say Avi was former chairman, David is Founding Chairman--what appears to be more honorary than anything. Avi's page should say Chairman or first chairman, consistent with his title. This page should follow the sources, including NYT, which say "Founding Chairman". 172.58.3.214 (talk) 03:15, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
"First chairman" IS "founding chairman". The use of "founding chairman" is supposedly indicating Maisel taking Marvel Studios from a "dependent"/licensing/developmental production company to an independent production company, but Arad was there for those early steps. And if you want to take "studio" correctly in its name then they would have been in the distribution area too, but no they had Paramount distributing their films initially. I have contacted NYT to have them correct said error. Generally, WP has avoid dupping IF you were following sources then you would have recognized the (earlier) source I add (Fortune/CNN) that Arad was a former chairman thus invaliding sources of Maisel being "Founding Chairman". WP doesn't list nominal titles like executive producers either. Spshu (talk) 13:07, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The Founding Chairman credit was granted and shows in the Age of Ultron movie, given by Marvel and Disney. The credit says "Founding Chairman." It's not small f and c, it is a title given by Disney.172.58.153.79 (talk) 17:44, 30 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
The founding chairman title is still nominal ( as are the executive producer credits) and not true since Arad was the first, the definition of being the founding chairman. And the shift to an independent production company, for which Maisel is called founding chairman for, began in 2005 under Arad (who left in 2006). Spshu (talk) 23:34, 2 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
