Westward?

Deleted this (published in Europe as Westward the Course of the Empire Takes Its Way[citation needed] )

Westward the Course of Empire [no 'the'] Takes Its Way is the name of the final short story, a novella, by Wallace, in the collection. The collection has never been called that, and indeed by the point of the publication of Girl With Curious Hair Wallace disowned the story. It's in DT Max's biography. I seem to recall Wallace intended the whole collection to be called Little Expressionless Animals but an editor dissuaded him? Anyway, Westward was to never be the title
