The result of the move request was: not moved. Armbrust, B.Ed. Let's talkabout my edits? 19:00, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
David Dodds → David Dodd – Tile of page should be David Dodd and not Dodds Henrydodd1949 (talk) 11:44, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Comment Cricinfo and CricketArchive both give Dodds. Where gives it as Dodd? Mr Stephen (talk) 13:59, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Also even if he is named David Dodd is the cricket player the primary meaning because there is already an article about a different person named David Dodd.--174.93.169.157 (talk) 20:42, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose The one reference and two external links all use Dodds and not Dodd. Unless evidence can be found to prove that they are all wrong I see no reason to move the article.--174.93.169.157 (talk) 20:47, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- I also noticed that the person proposing the move also changed the person's date of birth as well as Dodds's bowling style depsite the fact that both external links Cricinfo and CricketArchive supported the original information. That should probably be reverted unless the person proposing this move can show us where they are getting their info from.--174.93.169.157 (talk) 20:55, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose -- If you have reason to believe that the external sources cited have the name wrong, you need to find a reliable source for your spelling. Even then the target would have to be David Dodd (cricketer) as David Dodd (disambiguation) indicates we already have articles on three people of that name. Furthermore, one of the links appears to show that he only played three first class matches: that suggests to me that he is non-notable and the article should be deleted. Peterkingiron (talk) 21:08, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, playing any first-class match match confers the presumption of notability (check out the cricket section of WP:NSPORTS). Jenks24 (talk) 22:56, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Oppose. Cricinfo and CricketArchive are both authoritative sources, and both give his name as "Dodds". Jenks24 (talk) 22:56, 15 April 2012 (UTC)

Rumors
[edit]This talk section is probably better suited for the entries under biography formatting, but I thought since David's entry triggered it, an annotation should be added here.
- The Topic what to do, or what should be the procedure when info about the biographied is obviously a rumor, or a rumor about a rumor. As I remember when things were knews to me, both in life and in death, because let's face it I don't how many times I knew I was sure one way or the other when something was Truth, and when it was fiction and each time felt gullible.
- so what do you do when a person wants to, or has added content, to use David as an example, after the facts of him being Right Handed, some person who doesn't know all that much about crickets, the game, or synchronized violins edits to add, "Right Handed, and became well known as he was the first player to use a left hand stance while at bat"
- So while I am not even sure if baseball terms are used to describe the guy swinging the club to hit the ball, most who understand right and left (or East and West) understand that after distinguishing hemispheres, you can't really debate right or left without first establishing a Prime Meridian
