[edit]I removed this:
- Given that Benson-Pope has previously made scathing comments about the private lives of other MPs (such as Don Brash), these allegations are particularly damaging.
It was unsourced and seem a bit silly to me. Even if Benson-Pope is involved in this club which is a big if, there is no evidence his wife wasn't aware or disagreed. The primary issue with Brash was that he cheated on his wife (the second time) with a extremely powerful person (leading to trust issues both due to the fact he kept cheating and the fact that he had a close, secret relationship with someone who actively campaigns for and is likely to benefit a lot from policies he is espousing). On the other hand, the Benson-Pope thing while obviously very damaging if true, is of a completely different nature if he's not hiding it from his wife... Nil Einne 22:31, 22 November 2006 (UTC)

- However, defenders suggest that Wishart is fanatically devoted to a smear campaign against politicians he dislikes; that the allegations are easy to make and hard to disprove; and they mark a new low for New Zealand politics.
because it was unsourced and fairly generic. If there's a source for the first part of the sentence, about Wishart's devotion to a smear campaign, then it's reasonable to go back in.-gadfium 22:35, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I agree that those statements were broad/unsourced. It will be interesting to see how this story develops. (I would love to see Wishart get his comeuppance.) -- FP (talk)(edits) 00:45, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
You are not going to see 'Wishart get his commeuppance' - at least over this affair. Because the accusations are true. That's why DBP hasn't sued anyone, and he won't be suing anyone. He's just keeping his head down and relying on the papers not to print anything unless he comments, which he is refusing to do. In fact he will not acknowledge mail on the question and neither will his mistress :) Miss clark. Have a go. You'll see I'm right. Tashkop 21:28, 6 March 2007 (UTC)
