Ridiculous Statement

[edit]

David Bell was a British Subject, during his lifetime the entire island of Ireland was a component of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. So there is no reason to put in the sumamry that he was by birth an Irish recipient of the Victoria Cross. For he was a Briton.

Today, it would be difficult for a national for the Republic of Ireland to recieve one, but not for a Northern Irishman. For they are a part of the United Kingdom and have the same rights and privlidges as those born in Great Britain.

Um yes but he was an Irishman, born on the island of Ireland which is what the article linked to. Ben W Bell talk 07:19, 28 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
