Disambiguation page?

[edit]

It's always a case of thin ice when one makes a point like this, but... Dave Gregory (cricketer) was the captain of a national cricket team (Australia) in the first Test matches ever played. Personally I think that probably makes him more notable than the musician, XTC's influence notwithstanding. Any thoughts welcome! Loganberry (Talk) 03:37, 5 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ah; there's a David Gregory disambiguation page, I see. Loganberry (Talk) 14:04, 11 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The result of the move request was: moved the article, but there are a lot of links to Dave Gregory, so someone should disambiguate those before changing the redirect to point to the dab page. Kotniski (talk) 11:16, 8 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Dave GregoryDave Gregory (musician) — And then redirect Dave Gregory to David Gregory. The other "Dave Gregory", Dave Gregory (cricketer), is a very significant person, being the first ever captain of the Australian cricket team. It doesn't make sense for "Dave Gregory" to hit this musician but not the cricket player or a dab page. So "Dave Gregory" should redirect to the dab page for "David Gregory" or maybe even to the cricket player. --Mkativerata (talk) 20:28, 31 December 2010 (UTC) Move The cricketer is clearly the most notable Dave Gregory. • Support moves as proposed by the nominator. The musician is not unarguably the primary topic and Dave is a common enough abbreviation for David to think it would be a common search term for any of the David Gregory articles. While I am a (somewhat embarrassed at present) Australian cricket fan, I don't support moving the cricketer to the plain name. The cricketer is historically significant for being the first Australian Test captain but overall he was not a hugely significant cricketer like his contemporaries Spofforth and Blackham. -- Mattinbgn (talk) 07:50, 7 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Doing... an AWB run now to avoid dablinks to Dave Gregory. --Mkativerata (talk) 00:12, 9 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Done Dave Gregory now redirects to David Gregory. --Mkativerata (talk) 19:57, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
