No information about data recovery from damaged disk surface.

[edit]

Yesterday I disassembled a hard disk and wondered how to make it unreadable. Do I really need to grind the surface, as the staff of The Guardian newspaper did to prevent seizure of some documents leaked by Edward Snowden? Could I just bend the platters? Let my dog chew them? I hoped to learn about data recovery from a physically damaged disk surface, or recovery of data that has been overwritten. There wasn't any. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jlrubin (talkcontribs) 00:40, 26 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
