Characters
[edit]Should it be also noted that "挑戰" (Pinyin: tiǎo zhàn) also means "challenge" in Traditional Chinese characters? --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 18:35, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
Capitalisation
[edit]So why is DARE in capitals for this page? M.C. Brown Shoes 00:18, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Because it's listed as capitals in the Demon Days tracklisting. :) --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 08:04, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Does that really mean anything? Every song on the Demon Days tracklisting is in caps, but it's not FEEL GOOD INC.? M.C. Brown Shoes 11:18, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- When in doubt, find an authorative source. And I'm not talking about the tracklisting at the back of the album, but the tracklisting from this discography. It's the official website. :) --Andylkl [ talk! | c ] 12:05, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- I stand corrected. Carry on! :) M.C. Brown Shoes 04:20, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'm going to move this page because it's not in fitting with the manual of style(see here). The manual of style suggests anything that uses all capitals (even if it's the way it's presented) should be adjusted to standard case. Use of all caps is reserved for where the letters are an acronym. --lincalinca 04:16, 19 June 2007 (UTC)

Noodle
[edit]Who actually sings "Noodle"'s vocals? -- The Anome 02:09, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- Rosie Wilson, according to the Gorillaz article.--KrossTalk 10:02, 22 January 2006 (UTC)
Even though she's a cartoon Noodle is hot! Especially in this video! (I'm 15 so I'm allowed to think she's hot XD) --User:RejectFalseIcons2323
Is the beginning of DARE a Sheppard Tone? Acegikmo1 06:26, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
- It sounds like one to me... but it's so fast that the illusory effect is lost. Doc Sigma (wait, what?) 18:01, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
subtext of masturbation???
[edit]What part of the song does it hint masturbation???
- Depending on your mindframe, all or nothing. 惑乱 分からん 00:13, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
- If you intend on finding innuendo referencing masturbation, a creative mind and a little thought will yield results. That's where the rumors started, that this song is about Noodle 'coming of age', so to speak. -- Jelly Soup 23:51, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
- It's true that many, many songs with ambiguous meaning can be thought to have subversive ends when the evidence is sketchy. Many of the Beatles songs come to mind- Hey Jude, Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds and so on. This in mind, DARE could be seen as an internal monologue/instruction about masturbation. I'm not saying it is (hence my excluding this from the main page).
Here's how it could be seen: "It's coming up, it's coming up" -an erection "Jump back and forth/And feel like you were there yourself"- imagining intercourse during masturbation "Work it out" masturbation "Never did no harm"- rationalizing an action typically considered "dirty" "You've got to press it on you You just think it, that's what you do That's what you do, baby Hold it down, DARE" a number of meanings. again, imagining intercourse during masturbation.
Does any other idea fit better? Tymothy 17:27, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Live Performance
[edit]Anything on the Live performance at Manchester? Shaun Ryder was singing it a really weird way.
Brit Awards reference
[edit]I've written the addition from memory, if anyone has a recording of it or can add something more concrete to it, please do. Damiancorrigan 10:44, 23 April 2006 (UTC)
Removed Nonsense
[edit]This:
- "DARE" is a staple song used by several car audio enthusiasts to test their sound system's performance, as it contains both human voice, plenty of treble and a very strong bassline.
It's uninteresting, not referenced, and has bad grammar. Bye bye! Damiancorrigan 10:50, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
fez?
[edit]- "Russel had an identical fez like Spongebob and Patrick had on the episode "Good Neighbors"." What does this mean? Like, i have no idea what this is talking about here.(chubbstar) 21:42, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- oh. its a hat. nevermind.(chubbstar) 21:46, 11 June 2006 (UTC)
- Is it identical? I actually saw that episode of Spongebob, doesn't Spongebob and Patrick have fez with an eye on it? Russel has only a plain red one.
Random fact
[edit]I just noticed, on the poster for DARE, Noodle's wearing socks and the outfit seen in the video. But in the video, Noodle's wearing white shoes and no socks! -- Fushako 18:09, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Trivia
[edit]The song's audio background music and lyrics is slighty similar to that of Sonic And Knuckles's Death Egg Zone.
Firstly, some wikification needs to take place here (as well as a spell check). Secondly, the Death Egg Zone didn't have any vocals. At all. If there are no objections, I will make changes reflecting the above. -- Jelly Soup 23:26, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:DAREVideo.jpg
[edit]Image:DAREVideo.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:10, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
Trivia again
[edit]I think someone needs to spruce up the Trivia section. I don't think I should be the one to do it though because I'm not sure what's right and what's not right. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.116.201.37 (talk) 22:07, August 22, 2007 (UTC)

Daft Punk sampling!
[edit]Near the end of the song, if you listen closely, it sounds just like the beginning crowd talk from Revolution 909 by Daft Punk on Homework. I think that this should be noted.--Finest1 (talk) 16:09, 22 February 2008 (UTC)

Background Sampling
[edit]I'm sure the background female vocals used are from a seventies tune. Can anyone identify the song? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Captain haddock01 (talk • contribs) 19:16, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
