Polish?
[edit]Is her mother Polish? Her maiden name was Janawicz. Does anyone have a source? Michael 05:27, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is a very interesting case. Her mother is a Unitarian minister which is not "very Polish", and no sources of any kind have ever mentioned anything other then her mother being American, but according to birth records, that's her mother's maiden name, so.... Mad Jack 05:29, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, it's a weird case. Michael 05:33, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Is her mother's first name available? Michael 05:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- It would appear that we don't Mad Jack 06:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Oh... Michael 06:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- I presume it's not listed on rootsweb or ancestry.com? Michael 07:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well there are really only two Janawicz listed. [1] Mad Jack 07:13, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- As for Ancestry.com, there were no actual Janacwicz born in California, ever. The 1910 census shows 11 of them in the United states, some are from Russia (!) and the other ones are from Germany (!) so it may not be Polish. By the time we got to 1930, there were only 3 left in the States. Mad Jack 07:15, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, it could still be a Polish name...As I've said, so many boundaries changed due to war and whatnot. Michael 07:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- We know, we know, all the annoying boundary changes. People just couldn't make up their minds. Mad Jack 07:31, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Indeed...I guess they deemed her Guatemalan heritage more exotic. Michael 08:08, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, she is the only Guatemalan American actress ... ever... If they marketed her as Polish, she would be one of roughly 10-15 Polish-American actresses out there in history. The odds are not as exotic. Mad Jack 08:10, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- Polish-Guatemalan couldn't work? :) Michael 08:22, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
- No. Remember, her mom converted from Polishism to Unitarianism. Call her Unitarian-Guatemalan-American. Mad Jack 08:25, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Nonetheless, it is an unusual case. Michael 06:35, 4 August 2006 (UTC)
- Arrrr a Trinitarian and a Unitarian are two different things. In fact, they directly oppose each other. Mad Jack 03:38, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Were there anti-Trinitarian sentiments, wouldn't that mean the ideals were more aligned with Unitarianism? Michael 22:17, 5 August 2006 (UTC)
- Well, being alligned, sort of, with Unitarist though is quite a ways from actually being, officially, a "Unitarian". I don't have much doubt that, pending some unusual explanation, her mother is of some kind of East European ancestry. However, I am pretty sure that her mother or her mother's family just adapted Unitarianism in the United States, not brought it along Mad Jack 01:25, 6 August 2006 (UTC)

Of course. Poland isn't known for having esp. large Unitarian populations. Nonetheless, Janawicz is certainly on Eastern European origin. It might be Russian. Were she not a Unitarian, I might have guessed the name was Jewish, though it still could be originally. Michael 05:07, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
High School
[edit]I reordered the sentence about Woodstock high school because the events were out of sequence and was confusing. I replaced the sentence, "She and her mother and sister moved from Berkeley to Reading, Vermont after her parents divorced" with "Zuniga, her mother, and her sister moved from Berkeley to Reading, Vermont after her parents divorced." It was just a grammatical change. I also moved that sentence as well to help the paragraph flow. After moving sentences around, I changed the following sentence, "She became interested in acting in high school, performing in a variety of school plays" to "Zuniga became interested in acting in high school, performing in a variety of school plays." Bernard Madoff connection?
[edit]Did Daphne Zuniga have any financial dealings or misdealings with Bernard Madoff like other actors did? Dexter Nextnumber (talk) 01:31, 5 January 2010 (UTC)
Stylistic concerns
[edit]The word "also" is used about 12 times in this article; a friend of Ms. Zuniga's might want to polish up the prose. 17 July 2011 Anonymous — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.151.219.2 (talk) 18:43, 17 July 2011 (UTC)
A correction on her main page
[edit]If Daphne Zuniga has appeared in several episodes on Family Ties, than how only 2 episodes are listed? Either the listing of episodes is incorrect, or she has only appeared in only 2 episodes. Apparently no one picked up on that. Shocking. Majinsnake (talk) 04:49, 14 November 2013 (UTC)majinsnake
