Possible death
[edit]What looks like the official site hasn't been updated to indicate his potential death. However, there's a guest blog at The Wrap that seems to indicate that he died. Is there an obituary printed anywhere? NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:03, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- Speaking of which, the Wikipedia article was basically a copy-paste copyvio of the official website's bio. I replaced it with a well-sourced stub. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 06:48, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
- I've added the category:Possibly living people since his status of being dead or alive are in question without reliable confirmation. --TDKR Chicago 101 (talk) 04:13, 13 July 2015 (UTC)
- The source a blog on a news site. As it says in WP:V these may be acceptable sources if the writers are professionals.--Racklever (talk) 10:43, 4 August 2015 (UTC)
- Yeah, but I'm not convinced that a "guest blog" is the most authoritative source, especially when there's no evidence that the author is a professional. It seems entirely possible that Quinn died, but how many times has Abe Vigoda been reported as dead? I think we should try to find an actual obituary rather than some guy's blog post. - Though it's definitely not ideal, I think the blog post on a reputable site is sufficient to confirm his death. I can see how others would disagree. However it was sloppy of me to add a precise day when all we can safely conclude is that his death occurred at some point before 6 June 2015 (the day of the blog entry) and presumably after his last tweet on 5 February 2015 (the Twitter account is now closed). I would propose one of the following
- we set the date of death at "2015", quote the blog post and categorize the article in Category:2015 deaths
- we add a sentence such as "on 6 June 2015, an obituary was posted on TheWrap (in the form of a "guest blog entry") but his death has not been confirmed in other media sources" and we categorize the article as Category:Possibly living people.
- Thoughts? Pichpich (talk) 19:42, 20 August 2015 (UTC)
- I've been hoping that the situation would resolve itself with time, but it doesn't seem to be happening. One thing I've noticed is that the author of the guest blog is listed as the official website's maintainer. I assume that TheWrap verified his identity, though it's weird that the official website hasn't been updated. Anyway, I guess we might as well just list him as a 2015 death. I still have my doubts, but I'm tired of fighting every editor who comes here to cite his death. NinjaRobotPirate (talk) 07:03, 21 August 2015 (UTC)
- I'm certainly not here to fight either but I think my latest edit is a reasonable compromise. Cheers, Pichpich (talk) 22:48, 22 August 2015 (UTC)
