The Statesman, editors

[edit]

According to this, the editors go John Hunt 1806-9, W. M. Willett 1809, John Scott 1809-14, Lovell 1814-17, Sampson Perry 1817-19, David Carey 1819-24. Scott is possibly John Scott (editor), but there is problem or two. The ODNB has Scott working for the Statesman until end 1807, then setting up The Censor and the in Lincoln working for John Drakard on the Stamford News. Possibly Scott was in charge of the London edition for Drakard, which would make sense; but that isn't what the ODNB says. And in any case "editor" might have been a flexible title.

So without better referencing, it isn't so clear what the precise editorial history is. Charles Matthews (talk) 12:16, 19 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
