Episode / Program length
[edit]According to imdb and amazon, each program appears to consist of two 45-min episodes. Do you know of any sources that say otherwise? -96.237.4.73 (talk) 19:04, 22 January 2013 (UTC)
- I know this from personal experience viewing both the episodes as aired on ITV in the UK and later aired on PBS in the U.S. in the UK each story was aired as two episodes of about 45 mins each. On PBS, however, the two episodes are being combined into one approximately 90-minute episode. I have not been able to find a source that states this openly and can be cited, but the timing becomes clear when the episodes are watched online. Ellietr (talk) 00:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
- Presumably the UK version had adverts? Verne Equinox (talk) 01:39, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
Censored body images
[edit]It seems that the pilot, Aftermath, contains bits of images of naked dead body parts (breasts). These bits were censored (fuzzed) in the US PBS broadcast. Presumably not in the original UK broadcast? The DVD? Which countries? Also, a few swear words were silently removed... -96.237.4.73 (talk) 22:33, 24 January 2013 (UTC)
- I personally watched both the original UK (ITV) version of every episode and am now watching the PBS versions. Yes, PBS is censoring (fuzzing out) naked body parts and silently removing some swear words. Ellietr (talk) 00:20, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
In France, TV Arte (our Gvt-owned cultural channel) has just broadcasted the 1st season of DCI Banks over 4 weeks, prime time (20h45) on Thursday (usually not a night for French children to sit up in front of TV...) without fuzzing the images or adultering profanities. But Arte broadcasted the pilot (Aftermath) at the end of the season , either because it's a lot tougher than the other episodes (and would maybe have shocked away many watchers) - or because it's an habit on all French channels to broadcast TV series episodes at random without respecting chronology ( keeps us ranting and wary, as regular frenchmen should ;-) T.y.
