DBS receiver with digital VHS recorder

[edit]

I've heard there was a DBS satellite TV receiver with a built in digital recorder that used VHS tape but a proprietary format incompatible with D-VHS and D-Theater.

There is a Dish satellite receiver with built-in D-VHS recorder. It records a straight 720x480 image direct from the feed (STD speed). It's the old-style Data-VHS rather than the upgraded Digital-VHS with high definition capability, and it does not support HS, LS3, or other speeds. ---- Theaveng (talk) 17:45, 28 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recording encrypted video

[edit]

With the release of component HD recorders (i.e. Hauppage HD-PVR), can we really say that D=VHS is the best way to archive encrypted video?

A component recorder records UNencrypted video, so does not contradict that claim. Jeh (talk) 19:29, 4 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

D-Theater Region

[edit]

According to the article, "There has never been a D-Theater video release in region 2 or 3." However, the film One from the Heart is listed as Region 1/2/3 on the back cover. --Evmore (talk) 21:38, 20 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]
