Since German name is historical, what remains is to decide the choice between 1) Long vs Długa and 2) Road vs Street. Out of those, Long Street I think seems to win. Thoughts? --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 16:21, 2 February 2014 (UTC)
- Gee, a "Long Lane"? One could concoct we have Gdańsk once again occupied, this time by the British (or Americans?). Piotrus, definitely proper names should not be translated, no matter of their literal meaning (including the word "street" itself), especially as titles of their articles. See: Champs-Élysées, Friedrichstraße, or Campo de' Fiori —— the names are not translated, although each has a certain meaning. Hence, I say we stick to Polish proper names as titles. In this instance, Ulica Długa, since pretty much there's no other encyclopedic Ulica Długa anywhere in the world, let's admit it. – Kochas (talk) 03:02, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
- @Kochas: I concur (unless the name is well established, so Warsaw, not Warszawa, etc.). It was not me who chose the English name, I just started a discussion few years back, it's just that nobody has gotten around to participating in it till now, nor to renaming the article. Go ahead. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| reply here 03:33, 21 March 2020 (UTC)
