Choral or madrigal?

[edit]

I filed this under "choral compositions," but would it be appropriate to file it instead, or additionally, under "madrigals," since it was originally for four people? What is it like musically? –Roscelese (talkcontribs) 23:30, 28 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I am not too much of an expert on this topic, but a madrigal is a secular piece of vocal music, while the Czech Lute has distinct references to religion. I am not quite sure about filing it under choral either, because it was, as you said, originally written for four voices. Musically it does not only include voices, but also a couple of early Baroque instruments, you can listen to it on youtube under the Czech title "Loutna Česká." Direct quote with no source?

[edit]

I noticed that the last paragraph of the first section seems to quote the music director of Ensemble Inégal, but the linked sources are just short excerpts from recordings of the music with no spoken word whatsoever. The quote doesn't seem to appear in the linked NYT article either. This quote is hardly inconsequential. I found @BarunH to be the contributor of this - could you, or someone, please clarify this? 85.207.121.53 (talk) 06:48, 11 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
