Cyrus was not the only driver to provide relief for the eventual winner of the Indianapolis 500 and not receive official credit as a co-winner. In 1923 Howdy Wilcox (the 1919 winner) relieved eventual winner Tommy Milton for 48 laps. In 1925 Norm Batten drove 22 laps in relief for eventual winner Pete DePaolo.
