DRI

[edit]

Though drugs of the amphetamine class are given in the 'see also' section, cypenamine is likely a DRI rather than a DRA. It's molecular structure overlays nortilidine which is found to have some DRI properties. Nagelfar (talk) 21:18, 12 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

"The trans- isomer is reported to be more active than the racemate". (WHAT???????)

[edit]

This is a scientifically incorrect statement (it does not make any sense whatsoever). This can even be understood by reading the stereochemistry section below it. The trans isomer may exist as a racemate. This statement should be removed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 122.111.247.196 (talk) 05:12, 24 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's meaningless, although I'll grant that the phrasing is far from optimal. Perhaps it's intended to be an optical racemate of two trans diastereomers? DS (talk) 14:48, 6 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Look (DS)-DragonflySixtyseven, you obviously have no idea what you are talking about and the 'big words' you, so inadequately, use do not help, they just dig your hole of obvious intellectual deficiency (in this subject) deeper. Stick to commenting on subjects you have some actual understanding of!. Ever heard the saying "A little bit of knowledge can be a dangerous thing"--122.111.241.118 (talk) 02:37, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It's not neccesary, to offend a user because you do not understand them. I'm sure that Dragon would have been happy to rephrase in a more intelligible manner, if you would only ask. However, I'm not so certain now, considering you offended him.
With respect to the statement in question, I agree with Dragon, in that it is not completely meaningless, but it is erroneous in its current form. With a little further investigation, it should be possible to rewrite the statement. Perhaps, the statement means to say that a particular diastereomer of the trans nature is more active than the trans racemate. Plasmic Physics (talk) 03:22, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

To DMacks - Actually It is DragonflySixtyseven and Plasma Physics Who insist on blindly tormenting that, obviously deceased, poor Equine.--122.111.241.118 (talk) 08:15, 7 May 2013 (UTC).[reply]

@122.111.241.118: that is still not an excuse for the offensive language. Please comment in a constructive way - you may indeed be right that not everyone is knowledgeable in the exact field of the current problem, but further offensive language from you will not be tolerated (and I do note, that an other IP you have been using was blocked for exactly this same reason ..). Please adapt your tone. --Dirk Beetstra T C 08:22, 7 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Biological activity

[edit]

Details on the effectiveness of this compound as a drug are not easy to find (to put it mildly). Several papers say it's an anti-depressant but provide no references. I have found reference to a clinical study, however the paper in question (Curr. Ther. Res., 9 (6): 293-305, 1967) is not available online - Current Therapeutic Research only have online records going back to 1992. This would require someone with access to printed papers or inter-library-loans. Free cookies to whomever can be bothered... Project Osprey (talk) 23:27, 8 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
