Cyberpunk 2013

There should be a section on the first edition of Cyberpunk. Does anyone have the original material to help verify material? -- Rossumcapek 02:15, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Should we have 3 pages (one for each of the editions)? I don't think so, but the name of the page actually refers to the 2nd edition. (first ed. was "Cyberpunk 2013"...) Tajoman 02:30, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

I think this page should move to Cyberpunk (role-playing game) with material on all three editions. 2020 came out only a few years after 2013, and 203X only has the one book thus far; While 2020 has more material, it's impossible to talk about one edition without discussing and incorporating the others. I think that sounds like a good idea. I think we should still have the CP2020 page, but have it be an "alias" (ie, have it redirect automatically) to the Cyberpunk Rpg page... I guess that would work alright. If we find that we start to have to much to say about a particular edition, then we could split the page into one per edition. Right? • Er... there's something wrong indeed. The first edition (1988) was called "Cyberpunk" only and not "Cyberpunk 2013". The suffix 2013 only came later to differentiate it from the second edition, "Cyberpunk 2020". Other than your site Hound, the only V3 sites I have come across have been yahoo clubs and the like, none of them ever seemed very active either.Wisdom000 23:54, 18 July 2007 (UTC)

BlackHand & SilverHand

I'm removing the reference to Morgan Blackhand & Johnny Silverhand being brothers because I haven't been able to find a reference to it in any of the cyberpunk 2020 literature. If anyone has a reference for this, cite it please. --The HellHound 101 04:20, 24 February 2007 (UTC)

Cybergeneration split

Status of Cybergeneration as Canon

The carbon plague is explicitly mentioned as part of the 203X timeline under 2020 along with it's attendant side effects of cyberevolution on kids, so it's part of the same core timeline and setting. Just FYI.

Supposed cellphone anachronism

I took out this sentence "The fictional timeline, trying to depict an early 21st century from a 1980s perspective, contains some anachronisms such as not foreseeing the adoption of cell phones as the preferred mode of communication." This is a reference to William Gibson saying his early books seemed strange because there were no cellphones. Timeline section is problematic

• The setting timeline takes way, way, way too much space, is utterly trivial and should not exist in its present form. San Fransisco

The image Cyberpunk 2020 Night City.jpg spells San Francisco as "San Fransisco". Is that how the game spells the city, or is there an error in the image? Kaid100 (talk) 14:26, 21 September 2012 (UTC)

I presume it's an error.

The location of Night City on the map also appears to be near Marina, CA. However, the Cyberpunk creator has said that the actual location is Morro Bay, CA:

Yes, the Rock is to the very north of Night City in my original design. I just didn't point it out at the time. In my personal campaigns, it's been built into a fortress/arcology kind of like a mini Gibraltar. But your mileage may vary.

Cyberpunk Arasaka's Plot (J2ME)

There was also a J2ME 2D platformer game named Cyberpunk: Arasakas's Plot by Mayhem Studio. All official links on game or studio websites are now dead unfortunately. It was released in 2007 as this page says, and there is no cached version of their old site because it made in Flash. Heading reorganization

Currently notes on the game setting and game mechanics are beneath the headings for the first and second editions of the game. I propose extracting essentially universal details out into their own sections. The sections for each edition would keep information unique to that edition (fictional timeline for example). Specifically for this game category? Honestly most of those articles should probably be deleted as non-notable. The supplements fail general Wikipedia notability standards and realistically shouldn't have articles. I don't have the heart to nominate them, but if someone else comes along half the articles in RPGs in general should likely be gotten rid of as non-notable. Genre

Well science fiction is the general overall genre. Ultimately rather than dystopian it's quite clearly, Cyberpunk. All depends on whether we want to use the top level genre or a specific sub-genre. Dystopian is not the right answer in my mind. For the opening sentence I'd actually use science-fiction here. Canterbury Tail talk 13:19, 10 March 2021 (UTC)

How many Cyberpunk 2020 books and supplements were there?

I believe the statement that there were six Cyberpunk 2020 novels is false, so I've marked it as "Citation needed". I believe there were only two novels specifically written for 2020. Goodreads.com lists them, The Ravengers (1995) and Holo Men (1996), both by Stephen Billias. Hexene (talk) 21:17, 10 March 2021 (UTC)
