Unrecognized characters

[edit]

Two unrecognized characters are showing up for me. Unless it is only me experiencing this issue, this will hamper this article's chances of reaching GA status. Here is what I see:

”Gareth Branwyn's 1992 manifesto "Is There A Cyberpunk Movement?"”.

What are these characters supposed to be? — Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 00:08, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I believe I see the two character's you're referring to, but please describe them next time, as I initially couldn't understand the nature of the problem. The two rectangular characters that you're likely addressing appear when one uses Internet Explorer. They do not appear on Firefox. I'll address them immediately.--Cast (talk) 00:15, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I am using Firefox 3. What were those supposed to be? — Twas Now ( talkcontribse-mail ) 00:46, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I honestly couldn't tell you. I never put them in, and when I deleted them, I simply hit the delete key repeatedly until I removed all of the text and reentered it. It hardly matters now, but it's likely that I copied the title off of the internet from one of my sources in an attempt to avoid wasting time or incorrectly spelling the essay title, and the formatting error was copied over. --Cast (talk) 01:03, 11 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

First Pop Musician to experiment with Techno music?

[edit]

This seems unverified: "well before other pop musicians experimented with techno music." I don't know if Jesus Jones could counter this point, as they are most likely a Techo band experimenting with Pop music, but I'm sure there are other examples of Techno in Pop music prior to 1993. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.99.51.125 (talk) 13:15, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

This was a statement written by one of the early editors, and I've just glazed over it so far, but I'm inclined to agree with you. I'll remove it.--Cast (talk) 18:16, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Minor multimedia point

[edit]

A few references are made in the article to the 3.5" diskette and other bonus content "included" with the album, but as I remember it the album didn't come with anything special. The 3.5" diskette was something you had to send away for or be a member of the press to receive, it wasn't actually included in the CD case. Rob T Firefly (talk) 19:10, 4 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All of the sources referenced stated rather directly that the diskette was a limited edition release. That would seem consistent with your memory of copies of the album being released without the multi-media diskette; you would simply be remembering albums that were standard edition. You're also correct to recall that members of the press were given copies of the diskette along with a packet of other information and goods. Transcripts of text within the diskette were also provided for the benefit of those journalists who didn't have the software requirements. --Cast (talk) 01:54, 5 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
