Fair use rationale for File:Superman423.jpg

[edit]

File:Superman423.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Bibliography

[edit]

I think i'm gonna start to get together a Biography of Curts work. If anybody wants to Help, probably post the series you will check in here so we don't start to look into the same series for his work, and i would say we also include, on their own, his covers, because in the 50s he drew close to 10 covers a month, for superman, action, superboy, olsen, some lois lane, batman, worlds finest and more. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.34.154.168 (talk) 12:29, 3 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bibliography

[edit]

Interior pencil art includes:

DC

[edit]

Superman #51 (March–April 1948)

Covers only:

DC

[edit]

World's Finest #95 (August, 1958)

if anybody can bring that into the article, then i can build up from it the bibliography, but i have no idea how to do that.

Denny O'Neill quote

Wikipedia referencing violations

[edit]

Any claims made on Wikipedia require verification as Wikipedia defines it. First, we can't make any claims of Swan's birth or death locale without reliable-source citations. That means no personal claims by anyone claiming to be or actually a family member. And Wikipedia disallows citing anonymous fan sites like Superman Supersite. Such self-published sources can only be used if it's author is a publicly recognized, which generally means published, authority in a given field. Mark Evanier is a comics authority, for instance, whose blog News from Me can be cited for comics history and related material. The people behind Superman Supersite did not do their own original newsgathering and reporting but took their content from other sources — so we go to those other, original sources.

Wikipedia also does not do Tribute sections, though we can certainly write about a creator's legacy, with citations.

Just from a quick look at this article, it clearly needs a higher bar of referencing in order to be of encyclopedic quality. And heaven knows Curt Swan deserves that. --Tenebrae (talk) 18:01, 11 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]
