Need disambiguation
[edit]There is now another Curious George movie that is the biography of the star/creators. You can see two kinds at YouTube.com and by this identifier: u-SsO2Ezdd4. One is a trailer for Monkey Business and one is interviewing people behind Monkey Business.
Monkey Business: The Adventures of Curious George's Creators (2017)
How to list? Put it here with these films or make it its own page? Maybe a link from the creator's page. I came here when I searched on "Curious George Movie." Kristinwt (talk) 00:58, 30 April 2018 (UTC)
A "clumsy.. monkey named George"
[edit]"A clumsy, mischievous, friendly and curious monkey named George" -- lousy start to the synopsis summary. The extended introduction in the jungle shows us a young monkey with a childlike curiosity who is neither clumsy nor (yet) named George. In the film, the monkey, who is called "monkey" by Ted for much of the film, is given his name much later.

Which cast members to include?
[edit]WP:FILMCAST is flexible: "[I]t is encouraged to name the most relevant actors and roles with the most appropriate rule of thumb for the given film: billing, speaking roles, named roles, cast lists in reliable sources, blue links (in some cases), etc." The film infobox suggests listing the actors from the billing block of the theatrical poster, with other additions by consensus. Frank Welker (voice of George) isn't listed in the billing but has been included for obvious reasons. That leaves a few actors, some of whom were originally listed in this article, up for discussion; I've deleted some but figure I should post here in case anyone has thoughts:
- Ed O'Ross (voice of Ivan the doorman). Role is kind of on the same level as Clovis and Ms. Plushbottom, whose actors are billed, but the difference is likely actors' notability (Eugene Levy and Joan Plowright are much more well-known).
- Billy West (voice of the manager, one of the two guys who sell Ted the yellow suit). Extremely minor role that only appears in one short scene.
- Jeff Bennett (voice of the salesman, one of the two guys who sell Ted the yellow suit). Extremely minor role that only appears in one short scene. Interestingly Bennett would go on to voice Ted in the TV series, but that seems more like trivia that doesn't necessarily merit inclusion in these sections (possibly in the section on the TV series).
- Michael Chinyamurindi (voice of Edu), who doesn't have his own article. Again, pretty minor role.
I think my gut instinct is to have one or two sentences after the cast list that mention some or all of these additional actors in prose form, à la Prometheus (2012 film)#Cast; alternatively, we could just remove these actors and focus on the billed cast. —DanCherek (talk) 19:40, 1 January 2021 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead and made those changes, see Special:Diff/997982908. —DanCherek (talk) 05:11, 3 January 2021 (UTC)
- After giving it some more thought, I've removed the minor/unbilled actors for now and just have the major cast listed in the "Voice Cast" section, which is now concordant with the infobox. Of course, anyone with an opinion is welcome to chime in or make changes. —DanCherek (talk) 22:50, 7 January 2021 (UTC)
Requested move 16 March 2025
[edit]
![]() | It has been proposed in this section that Curious George (film) be renamed and moved to Curious George (2006 film). Curious George (film) → Curious George (2006 film) – Curious George (1984 film) also exists, so this title is incompletely disambiguated. Per WP:PFILM, film articles' titles should be fully disambiguated. The pageview ratio is about 17:1, comparable to the Titanic (film) situation (although the absolute numbers here are much lower). jlwoodwa (talk) 23:59, 16 March 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per WP:PRIMARYTOPIC / WP:INCDAB. Unnecessary. There's already a hatnote pointing to the only other possible article, so the small number of readers looking for the 1984 short will actually be better off landing here than they would be landing on a dab page (which, incidentally, didn't even list the 1984 short until I just added it there). - Oppose – no need to inconvenience readers by needlessly citing a ridiculous local consensus (yes, I understand I am using the term wrong, but that's what it is) that has a good chance of being scrapped on its talk page (WP:IAR. If someone opened a move request on the Titanic film, I would enthusiastically support. WP:INCDAB is a sitewide policy which cites no exceptions for films. 🐔 Chicdat Bawk to me! 10:25, 17 March 2025 (UTC)
