Some other characteristics from the Japanese
The Japanese had a significant impact on the Marshallese. They introduced rice which has to be imported (of course!) from Japan, originally, but perhaps other sources now. Also, the Marshallese copied the Japanese habit of removing their shoes when entering an abode. This made a great deal of sense in Japan when you were stepping on a tatami mat. A bit less sense, when you were stepping from dirt, into a hut with a dirt floor! Need references for this. Student7 (talk) 12:35, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
