Separate language

[edit]

I own Arnold Kellett's "Yorkshire Dictionary", and he does not claim in it that Yorkshire dialect is akin to a separate language. He acknowledges that most counties of Britain have their own dialects, and he believes that they need to be recorded before they die out. Epa101 (talk) 19:03, 29 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Error Strewn

[edit]

There are lots of inaccuracies on this page, but I certainly don't have time to go through it with a fine tooth comb. As an aside example the idea that "Tyke" is a reference to a historic uncouth person is ridiculous- a tyke was and is a terrier, a small but fearsome dog, bred specifically for hunting small animals such as rats & rabbits. Such as for example a Yorkshire terrier. 2A02:C7C:E0C1:AC00:C0C7:1ED2:9D1E:1EFA (talk) 21:00, 17 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
