The layout of pictures

I noticed that the placement of the 2 main pictures was changed. I agree about the Wikipedia pictures layout but these 2 pictures resumes all article. I believe the original layout to be kept. Cheers and respect Svest 17:46, May 14, 2005 (UTC) Wiki me up™

The pictures are bad

A picture of Delacroix is the worst you can choose for this page. It is orientalism/colonialsm. (Read Edward Saïd.) Also the picture of the woman in "tradional clothing" is totally wrong. Pictures in a general introcuction like this should give a general impression of the average Moroccan and life as yoy can see it on the streets. Djellaba

Someone deleted the Wikipedia article for Djellaba. Next, the link for djellaba here points to a woman's garment. Does some vandelistic admin have it in for male Moroccan style of dress? I would encourage you to review "Raiders of the Lost Ark," staring Harrison Ford. The Morrocan scenes are replete with men in djellabas, and djellabas are still worn in Morrocco by men regularly.

Please reinstate the djellaba article and fix the link, as it's the right thing to do. Ensure Wikipedia reflects reality, rather than personal bias. Thank you. Mugaliens 18:32, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

It was deleted because it was a copyvio. I unlinked it to Jilbab pending recreation. -- Szvest 18:46, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

Berbers and Carthagians

The article says: Morocco hosted many people coming from both East (Berbers, Phoenicians,. This is not correct, The Berbers cannot be considered and easterns, and cannot be considered as "hosted people" like as the the other foreign peopeles. The Berbers are considered to be indegenous to Morocco. The Carthagians is also not correct, the Carthagians are not people. But a country. This country was inhabited by the Poenicians and Berbers. I found the exact wording of the section titled "art" on this website: http://www.morocco.com/culture/ Is that a copyright violation? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bouncingbear (talkcontribs) 06:53, 17 February 2009 (UTC)

I agree with the previous statement as the art section soundlike a travel brochure or something along that lines. (Missydreamchic (talk) 22:40, 18 April 2009 (UTC))

I don't know about a copy-vio, but much of this article is a disgrace. As you say, a large section of it reads like a tourist brochure, and a pretty trite and condescending one at that. I'd also take issue with some of the broad statements such as "Morocco has set among its top priorities the protection of its diversity and the preservation of its cultural heritage". This is certainly not the view of many of the Berbers of Morocco: 35% speak Amazigh as their mother tongue yet the government has for decades been set on a programme of "arabisation" - their is little or no education available in Amazigh and it has no official status at all in the country (how does that chime with "the protection of its diversity and the preservation of its cultural heritage"? I'm tempted to remove some of the more obvious peacock terms and brochure-speak, for starters, but if the whole art section is indeed a copy-vio perhaps that should be removed (or completely rewritten)? The text was a clear copy-vio (see here). I've removed it as per WP:COPYVIO. Enaidmawr (talk) 23:55, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
