Article coordination

[edit]

This article was originally splintered from Tobacco (agriculture). Since these articles are invariably linked, it is important to coordinate summaries and updates. ChyranandChloe (talk) 06:17, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Empty sections

[edit]

The trouble with having section headings with nothing in the sections is a) it looks terrible, and b) it's sort of against the recommended layout (from WP:SECT) - "A stub section is a proposed section for the article, but not filled. In the empty section you have to include {{section-stub}} or {{Sectstub}}." Adding a section heading is trivial - there's no need for blank ones. I disagree, WP:SECT does not recommend removing empty sections, and its appearance will improve as we begin to cite. These empty sections shows the gaps in content which would otherwise be ignored; it is important to show what we don't have along with what we do, this allows potential editors to contribute. Omitting empty sections or incomplete sections only cause the distortion of the article in which the content is heavily centered towards certain topics of interest. For example, this article is actually splintered from Tobacco, which held a disproportional amount of information towards the processing of the agricultural product. The appearance of this article will improve as the sections are fill out. ChyranandChloe (talk) 20:53, 22 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The toxicity of smoking

[edit]

"Toxicity is the degree to which a substance can damage an organism." — from the Wiki article on "toxicity" The Wiki artcle on the health effects of smoking offers plenty of evidence and makes it abundantly clear that tobacco smoke has a fairly high degree of toxicity. In short it's toxic. Tobacco for personal use is a toxic substance. Any article covering and aspect of tobacco production and use should make it clear that it is raised by and large for personal use, as so used is toxic. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tonygumbrell (talkcontribs) 01:07, 22 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pesticides

[edit]

"Pesticide use has been worsened" - is not objective, and does not actually tell the reader what has happened. Suggest using "...has increased" or "has decreased" (Whichever is in fact the case - I'm none the wiser from reading the article, so I can't say!) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.214.138.57 (talk) 11:08, 24 February 2015 (UTC)[reply]
