Not worthy of an article, but a passing researcher might wish to know of an auction, by Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods, on Thursday 8 July 1875, “Of The Valuable Cellar Of Old Wines of Sir Thomas Cullum, Bart., Deceased, Placed in the Cellar of Hardwick House, Bury St. Edmunds, by the late Rev. Sir Thomas Cullum, Bart., who died in 1855, previous to which year much of the Wine had been laid in: It comprises 570 Dozens, including very fine Sherry bottled in 1833, 1851, 1857, White Port of 1806 and Port of the Vintages of 1834, 1836, and 1848, Marsala of 1833 and 1850, Madeira, Old Hock, Claret, Champagne, and other Wines”.
