Spelling: Cuanza or Kwanza?
[edit]I am looking at an Angolan government document from 2005 which makes reference to Kwanza Norte, rather than Cuanza Norte. (Likewise, it refers to Kwanza Sul and K. Kubango [for Cuando Cubango].) I don't speak Portuguese, nor am I well versed in Angolan geography and/or politics. Anyone know whether one, the other, or both spellings are considered correct? Your information is outdated, JMGM. Please consult the very site that you are referring to under "ÚLTIMAS NOTÍCIAS" and you will see that the correct spelling is "Cuanza". It would be highly appreciated if you do not contaminate the English Wikipedia with your personal preferences as you have managed to do with the Portuguese one. Destabilisation is not tolerated here as it appears to be with the Portuguese Wikipedia. I am including this here as a note to other editors. Spelling of names of places in Angola
[edit]After a long process starting way back in 2014, the spelling of names of places, rivers etc in Angola have now been defined, using their original spelling. This is not to be confused with the spelling of such names in the national languages of Angola. To end the confusion, between spelling in the official language and spelling in national languages, Parliament has passed the "Lei da Toponímia" (Toponymy Law) setting the correct spelling, as standard on which a number of other laws rely, specically with relation of human development, with placenames being assigned a system wide code based on the name of the place and the name of the province. These laws were passed earlier this year; the law on topony was approved (in Portuguese) in July. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 13:13, 25 September 2016 (UTC)
