PROD tag

[edit]

I've decided to remove the PROD tag. A google search shows several scholarly articles on this topic. It might not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines anyways, but the deletion is not uncontroversial enough for PROD IMHO.--Carabinieri 01:01, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Questionable claim

[edit]

"The human body contains 24,000 cold receptors and only 3,000 warm receptors, and therefore freezing is much more dangerous than overheating." I'm not sure how that works. It would seem to me that it would make cold therapy SAFER than heat therapy, since the body has a stronger warning signal... Izuko (talk) 19:06, 16 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, much of the information here sounds highly dubious... AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 01:17, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Rewrite

[edit]

While this does seem to be a therapy that has been described in medical research, the unsourced pseudoscience in this article seems to be so far removed from that research to the point of needing a rewrite to be of any value.

I've found a few research papers that seem to relate to some of the claims made here, but I don't know anything about the studies or the subject, but I think it will need far better sourcing.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. AdventurousSquirrel (talk) 01:35, 19 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I may be 11 years late, but finally the article has some references. I chose only scholarly, academic sources and avoided any I considered even remotely questionable. Nevertheless, I think the article would benefit from the attention of someone knowledgeable in this field. I removed some of the more dubious (unsourced) claims about its application and efficacy.
