Crown Thinning, Raising, and Reduction
[edit]I added this to the page because I thought it was information for a subtopic that was very relevant to the main topic of the Crown. It explained about how the Crown is crutial to be maintained and how big of an impact it could have on the life of the entire tree. I added the information about the included bark on the V shaped branches, because it could be very good and useful information to anyone looking to thin a tree. The included bark could weaken the attachment of the branches and make it less sturdy and stable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Payadgir (talk • contribs) 02:57, 4 May 2012 (UTC)

Does the crown include the trunk?
[edit]Does the crown of a tree include the trunk?
The lead sentence of the article currently says:
The crown of a plant is the total of an individual plant's aboveground parts...
which for a tree I would read as including the trunk. But then the second paragraph says (with my emphasis here):
The crown of a ... (tree...) is the branches, leaves, ... extending from the trunk..
which implies that crown does not include the trunk. Mitch Ames (talk) 23:36, 20 November 2023 (UTC)
