Not sure what this word "Ciproflxm" is supposed to be; Cipro or Ciprofloxacin perhaps? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.166.152.52 (talk) 03:33, 1 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I rewrote the lead because it had no references. It’s my first time editing, so I wasn’t sure how to write in a neutral, dispassionate tone, so the writing style may need some editing. Artsyscientist (talk) 14:01, 29 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Citation format

[edit]

@Invasive Spices: Still not consistent. Now we have spelled out first names and first name initials. Why is that? And why do we need to include spelled out first name in the first place? Much simpler to stick with |vauthors= that enforces a standard citation format. Boghog (talk) 18:36, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'm simply not taking this seriously. For anyone else wondering what the noise is: The above editor has been asked repeatedly by a large number of editors to cease his disruptive editing. He is engaged in a widespread, protracted edit war against a large number of other editors over whether |vauthors= is the only author list field allowed in {{cite}}s across the entire project. He uses one of various excuses: Maybe the "first major author used vauthors" (never true if you actually check the history) and changing that is against WP's rules, maybe (as in this case) the article has never seen |vauthors= before but the {{cite}}s that are already here must not be respected because... different excuse... whatever. Unfortunately he has managed to damage and remove fields from a truly massive number of {{cite}}s. I have never seen above editor make a productive edit, simply him popping in and degrading the contributions of others. Invasive Spices (talk) 19:00, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • @Invasive Spices: I am taking this very seriously. I am trying to engage in a discussion with you, but you refuse to respond. To repeat, Now we have spelled out first names and first name initials. Why is that? Please respond. Thanks. Boghog (talk) 19:14, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Don't understand one example

[edit]

Hi 2001:1C00:805:1300:FC22:3CFA:5864:2979, thanks for expanding this. This is an important subject in pesticides and yet we barely had an article before your edit. However I am unsure about one sentence: In plant virology for instance it is defined as the development of resistance by pest populations to multiple pesticides within a chemical family. That doesn't appear correct at all to me. Using "pest" for viruses is probably going to confuse some naive readers, but technically that's the correct term, so I won't change that. However I don't know what "chemical" or "chemical family" any virus has ever developed resistance to? Invasive Spices (talk) 18:40, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Stub templates

[edit]

@Invasive Spices: And why do we need 4 stub templates? One is enough. Boghog (talk) 18:55, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

  • Immunology doesn't cover the entire subject. Cross-resistance has a lot to do with my job and that rarely involves others' immunology work, and I'm not an immunologist. I can't think of any pesticide resistance that is immune-mediated. Invasive Spices (talk) 19:09, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
    • These stub templates are meant to be temporary and directed at the project that is most likely to respond. Pinging all projects where this article might be relevant is spam and is counter productive. Boghog (talk) 19:17, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
