Grammar[edit]

@Bonadea Pinging you so we can discuss the grammar of the article. Firstly I considered Croatian Sovereignists as a party since it is mentioned so in the first line. Parties, though they may be a group of people, is usually considered as a single unit, ie singular. One example from the wikipedia is from [[1]] "The Democratic Party is one of the two major, contemporary political parties in the United States." So while Democrats as plural, the Democratic party is itself a singular. So along the same vein, i considered the Croatian Sovereignists also as a singular and hence my first edit.

Secondly, I usually hear the Christian Conservative or Conservative Christianity([[2]]) which is why i edited it as "Christian conservative" as opposed to "conservative and Christian right-wing".

Thirdly (minorly) i think "Croatian Parliament" needs an article in front of it. "the Croatian Parliament" sounds right. English is not my first language so i may be wrong.

Fourthly (once again minor and a bit more debateable) "Protect the Croatian Kuna" sounds more like a movement than an initiative. Movement is defined as "a group of people working together to advance their shared political, social, or artistic ideas." or "a campaign undertaken by a political, social, or artistic movement."

Initiative is defined as "an act or strategy intended to resolve a difficulty or improve a situation; a fresh approach to something." among other definitions. synonyms include

  • plan
  • scheme
  • strategy
  • stratagem
  • measure
  • technique
  • proposal
  • step
  • action
  • act
  • manoeuvre

Its 50-50 but from where i come from movements are people campaigning for something and initiatives are government schemes (example free education for girls, free house etc)

Who is the party leader?[edit]

When I started the article, I wrote that Hrvoje Zekanović is the party leader. On October 7, 2021, another user changed party leader to Marijan Pavliček. I asked this user on his talk page if he has a source for this edit, but I think that I have still not received a reply. Does anyone have a source or more information about who's the actual leader? I have unironically not found anything on the internet. --Koreanovsky (talk) 16:17, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In this news article, it is mentioned that Marijan Pavliček is indeed the new "chief" (= šef in Croatian, literally translated) of the Sovereignists. However, Hrvoje Zekanović writes on his website, in the "about me" section, that he is one of the leaders (= jedan od predvodnika in Croatian), so I will add that in the article. --Koreanovsky (talk) 16:35, 30 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Position[edit]

User:FMSky, User:Hidolo and User:Odideum Please discuss it here. Thank you

The N1 article ([1]) calls them "radical right" which definitely can, but in my opinion (and looking at the radical right wiki article) doesn't necessarily mean far-right.

The Le Monde article ([2]) really is behind a paywall and you have to buy a subscription to read it, yeah. But Template:Subscription required shows to me that it seems to be allowed to use such articles. Please, instead of mindlessly reverting and fighting, actually try to be constructive and look at the rules. Odideum if there's an editing conflict, it would be useful to provide rules/evidence or smth to back up why smth should be removed for the reason you're stating. If I'm not aware of some guideline on references that deals with this, please correct me. On the other hand, since I don't have a subscription to Le Monde, I can't check if the source is valid. It looks like a really good and credible source, but I can't know for sure if the article actually calls the Sovereignists "far-right". So idk what to do, I think the source should be removed after all.

Hidolo make sure you add good/better sources. FMSky, I wouldn't say Hidolo "mass insertes slanderous content" but I do agree Hidolo you need to not insist and stay away from edit warring, as I see you've already been blocked. Maybe expand your work to adding other content and not just mostly changing infobox positions/ideologies. I'm tired of seeing y'all mass reverting on my Watchlist everytime I log in, like what's the point. Be civil.

and tbh i think right-wing is a perfectly fine position to describe them. I've been looking for sources in Croatian a little bit and I haven't found any for far-right yet. CroatiaElects (talk) 13:16, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think the best option is to put right-wing with a side note that they're sometimes considered far-right if we can find a better source since radical right ≠ far-right. Also, the position of The Bridge should be discussed. I think centre-right to right-wing would be good, but I couldn't find any reliable sources for the centre-right. Odideum (talk) 13:22, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I added a topic on The Bridge talk page too. Def not centre-right tho, and I doubt you'll find sources for it. CroatiaElects (talk) 13:57, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Is the current solution okay? Either this or the note should be removed alltogether until more and better sources are cited. CroatiaElects (talk) 14:06, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
As can be seen in different articles from radical parties (Vox, Nationall Rally, etc) the radical right is a subcategory of the far-right. The far-right category should be explicitly included. Hidolo (talk) 14:13, 24 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
