[edit]There seems to be a problem on the crisis management page. Yesterday (8 October 2007)I completed a rewrite which is far more factual and accurate than the earlier page. However, this new page still seems tagged for likely deletion? I suspect I might be at fault for not knowing how to properly completed draft changes to pages? Patrick56 08:29, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
== NPOV Tag ==
Why has this page got an NPOV and factual accuracy disputed tag on it? I propose it be removed unless the person who put it up is willing to discuss the reasons here!
- The page offers advice on what to do in different crises. That's POV advice 80.247.92.112 08:34, 22 November 2006 (UTC)
Also this article has no information on what to actually do to manage a crisis situation. Nor is it sited.
- Wikipedia is not an place to come to for counseling; it is an encyclopedia. There is no need to provide resources; people can easily find Crisis Management resources on the web. Woodlandpath 16:04, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Agreed, which is why I'm adding a Magazine tag. Hopefully someone knowledgeable about Crisis Management will clean this article up soon so the tags can be removed. BryanKaplan 08:35, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

Every current external link points to a commercial company which supplies services. People who are in need of Crisis Management resources are quite capable of finding it themselves. Please see recent article about [Linkspam] I suggest this entire section be removed.

AfD and Revisions
[edit]All constructive comments about crisis management have been noted and the entry on this subject has now been amended to hopefully improve it.--Patrick56 09:02, 15 October 2007 (UTC)
Per the Afd, I distilled the article into everything that had a source from your research - which wasn't as much as I wanted to keep, unfortunately. I can't come up with sources for some of what was there - but can add it back in if you have any information I'm missing. I added a Ready.gov source, but it's mainly general information typing Emergency and crisis management in with business continuity - not much help there. Ref the comment above - I cannot agree with what you have done. The description you ended up with with was not as accurate nor as relevant as the one that preceded it - and took ages to do having noted all constructive comments. I say this as a professional crisis manager. However, I have noted the points you have made and have now shown something of a compromise. I have also consulted other crisis management colleagues who agree with me. --Patrick56 00:06, 17 October 2007 (UTC)
- Absolutely - By all means, I want everything in the article. I read the AFD result as a recommendation to pare the article down to a stub-length article until more sources could be brought forward, which is what I did. Most of what remained dealt with pre-planning, response, and recovery elements from the UK BERR site, which was the only source I had that directly discussed the actual method of managing the crisis itself (as opposed to the reasons for it). If the article is to remain in its current format, then at the very least we need to organize it according to the Manual of Style, which means we need to add headings. External links also need to be added separately (in addition to in-line references). I've properly formatted the lede and the external links section; the rest, I leave to you. Expansion and Revision
[edit]Patrick53, Ultraexactzz, et al: You will notice a major expansion. We hope to have incorporated all existing material appropriately. This expansion was part of an Organizational Communication graduate class project. We did a lot of work pulling together references; we had some difficulty locating the reference for the 10 crisis management benefits, which we thought were quite good. As always, please help make the better! --OrgCommClass 23:53, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- I touched up some of the formatting - but it looks like a good, in-depth article on the topic. There are templates you can use for footnotes in place of the MLA-style citations you've used - see also WP:CS. I especially appreciate the fact that you kept much of what was there. Well done, all. General tone and content
[edit]This page is a strange mixture of formal definitions and random examples, and a lot of overlpa with other wiki articles. It should be shorter and clearer, perhaps focused on the very narrow definition of crisis management as the processes involved in recognising that a crisis has occured and then drawing up a recovery plan.Martinlc (talk) 08:03, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Possibly Amero-Centric Statement
[edit]The statement "Corporate America..." seems to imply that the previous sections were Amerocentric. If they are Amerocentric, then they should be revised because Wikipedia presents a global view; whereas if they are not, the statement would more accurately begin "Corporations...".

- The article is both Amerocentric and the statement would more accurately begin with "Corporations are...". The statement holds true whether the corporations are American or not. More work needs to be done to make this article reflect the whole world, but this change would be a start. --Ca2james (talk) 17:12, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
What about the Types of personal crises?
[edit]Came looking for a list of the types of crises and love this pages but was surprised it doesn't yet include any section on the various personal crises we encounter. Can't work on adding it atm, but would love to know if there's a reason it's not included? Are there other pages that relate? I'll take a look when I can.DrMel (talk) 19:30, 8 April 2015 (UTC)
