@Cyberwolf I just left you a user talk message about this, as I'm hoping to rescue it, but OMG you're right, I don't know how I missed that that first edit was indeed the named subject. Is it salvageable if he's notable, and we get him to stop altering it directly? Chiselinccc (talk) 16:48, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyberwolf Hmmm ok I was taking the unsourced statements as true, that's on me! I'm still pretty green on RS stuff and a bit nervous about it, but I know sourcing is one of the core activities of the 'pedia, so I'll take this weird little situation as motivation to do a proper lit search and practice my "RS-finding".
I will circle around on this talk page by tomorrow after doing so, and share anything I feel is potentially legitimate. I've also tried to direct the subject to respond to me or come to the talk page here. I'm much LESS optimistic after double-checking and confirming he was the actual creator of the article, but still trying to assume good faith.
Thanks for catching this as well, because I may have been *too* gentle around the whole matter if you hadn't pointed that out so clearly! I guess I saw the other usernames in early edit history and missed that the base draft was indeed COI from the start. Chiselinccc (talk) 16:56, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
tbh i was just looking to see if this was a long term coi and found out he created it i don’t blame you it appears legitimate but i can only find linkedin , wordpress sources und er his name •Cyberwolf•talk?17:26, 28 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Cyberwolf I just did a very quick search and you seem to be spot on with this! So disappointing, I was all set to try to help this guy but it seems like most of the long-standing content is unverifiable.
We had a third vigilant editor take care of more of the text here, I didn't originally want to just gut the whole article but I think the additional deletions are clearly justified now that I've seen similar search results to yours, as is the AfD- guess I'll be voting in my first AfD tonight, thanks for getting that rolling!
