Redundant

[edit]

Everything in this article is already covered in Seafood boil. Article should be deleted or change to crab boil spice mixtures. This article also has no citations other than recipes and spice mixtures.

If you're so concerned that this article exists, try proposing a merger with Seafood boil.   –Skywatcher68 (talk) 21:46, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Maryland Crabs

[edit]

I found it impossible NOT to delete references to "boiling crabs" under the Maryland section of this page. As a native Marylander and Chesapeake Bay seafood enthusiast, I can assure the author of that– it does not happen. Marylanders are VERY proud of their steaming method and no self-respecting Marylander would EVER boil a crab. In my 44 years I have never even heard an anecdotal case. The section was written as if it were almost as common as steaming. Only uninitiated folks from out of state would ever use the phrase "Maryland Crab Boil". It is never uttered by Marylanders. It's essentially an oxymoron. We would refer to the occasion as a "crab feast". You'll note the "Maryland Crab Boil" link on the bottom of the page is provided by "University of Delaware". --Psf11 (talk) 01:00, 4 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed. I changed the section to explain the difference. 207.255.188.35 (talk) 04:59, 14 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

If there is a concern about an overlap with the topic of seasoning, maybe it is better to create a new article at the link above than delete the existing one? IronGargoyle (talk) 18:30, 17 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]
