How about adding something in about their high speed internet services?

They block the most common ports. 80, 25, etc. This prevents the customer from using their bandwidth how they see fit.

--KK, first, you neglect to mention the reasons why, like spam for the port 25. Secound, you sould always sign you comments with four tides. Like this. 68.228.33.74 04:09, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
--I did mention reasons why. They prevent their customers from using their bandwidth they are paying for. Blocking ports doesn't prevent spam. Are you 12 years old? Do you even know how to program? No? Then you don't have a foot in this argument. Port blocking is the least effective way of preventing anything from happening. It hurts the customer more than it helps. Let me guess, you work for Cox? Ah... so you don't care about the customer then, you just want their money and would block every port except outgoing wouldn't you. Pathetic. 65.67.98.193 22:55, 27 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Port blocking is quite common among internet providers, nothing really notable. Ahanix1989 03:14, 1 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Port blocking from Cox only affects residential-level subscribers, and you agree to it in their Terms of Service. They want you to upgrade to business-level services to unblock the ports. It's expensive, but they do offer it, AFAIK. I also don't see any difference between this port-blocking practice and their blocking of high speed internet (HSI) access to regular cable TV subscribers via mandatory registration of your modem ID, or vice versa by installing a cable TV block if you only subscribe to HSI. High-speed internet from Cox is just running on a cable TV channel, as far as getting it to your house goes. I find all these blocking practices to be annoying, but not unreasonable or unexpected, considering that they are a publicly-traded for-profit corporation in which you must buy stock (not just service) in order to have your interests taken into account. Establish or find a community-owned cable internet service provider or reseller if you want to be treated so respectfully. Jadestarvale (talk) 22:21, 30 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Should this be in the Cox Communications discussion? Cox Enterprises is only the parent company. IPingUPing (talk) 01:15, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Recommend the Cox Communications logo be removed. Cox Enterprises has it's own logo, similar to the Cox Television logo. IPingUPing (talk) 01:16, 7 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Correct spelling?

[edit]

Shouldn't it be 'Cocks'? 76.69.9.139 (talk) 23:53, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
