[edit]Cowpens was also the name of a RN engineer who designed a pintle-type mount for a variety of naval barbette around 1870, which was later superceded by Ericsson-type turrets (which actually aren't turrets, stricly speaking...). Trekphiler 08:30, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Requested move
[edit]Withdrawn. bd2412 T 04:07, 10 October 2014 (UTC) Cowpens → Cowpens (disambiguation) – Per WP:PLURALPT. I see nothing on this page to dissuade me from thinking that the clear primary topic of the term is the singular, Cowpen. bd2412 T 22:06, 9 October 2014 (UTC)
Copied and pasted per the editor's request: Support - and feel free to copy paste this support onto all similar moves. I think this is now a case for use of technical move rather than full RM. In ictu oculi (talk) 02:16, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oppose. I'm not sure what the problem is or what User:BD2412 (or, by extension User:In ictu oculi) means by "the singular, Cowpen". Cowpen a minor toponym in England which doesn't appear to have a plural. Cow pen doesn't even exist as an article. On the other hand, the battle and town listed on the dab page are roughly equally encyclopedically notable. — AjaxSmack 03:54, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- Oops! Withdrawn. I thought I'd checked them all! bd2412 T 04:07, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
- It does beg the question, though, whether we should have an article on pens in which cows are kept. bd2412 T 04:10, 10 October 2014 (UTC)
