[edit]The section on Rain Fade seems inappropriate here and I propose that it should be moved and expanded into its own article, and this article on coverage should also be expanded. MarkPos 06:38, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- The article seems about equally devoted to rain fade and to the topic covered in the somewhat larger, linked coverage map article, so the latter topic could be moved to that article. "Coverage" after all is a very vague term and if we lose the article entirely it's no great loss. Jim.henderson 03:37, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
- Jim, Not sure that I agree entirely! For a satellite engineer, at least, "coverage" is very important, so I'd not like to lose the article. My view is that "coverage map" is a sub-topic of "coverage", so probably the best way forward is: i) pull out the rain-fade stuff into a separate (and expanded) article; ii) move much of the material in the "coverage map" article to the "coverage" article; iii) make the "coverage map" article rather more focused on the *map* element. If there are no objections I'll have a go at reorganizing the material in this way. MarkPos 09:10, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
- No-one objected, so I'm starting on these changes! MarkPos 11:50, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Requesting addition of wired coverage as well
[edit]I am not sure if there's already an existing article about it, but the word "coverage" in telecommunication field in certain countries also extends to wired telecommunication and not just limited to wireless, where this article kinda specifically talks about.
For example, fiber optic coverage refers to an area where there are open ports on a point of presence (PoP) that people living nearby could subscribe to get FTTH internet service connected to their house or premise, and those who live far from the PoP where they cannot feasibly get connected to it are outside of the "coverage area". The PoP could be powered (like a cabinet that houses switches or routers, typical for terrace houses) or unpowered (like some kind of terminal where the fiber optic is simply split off, typical for apartment), and the coverage could also be not available if all of the ports of an existing PoP got fully utilized that they could no longer cover more users in the area and they would need to upgrade the infrastructure to add more open ports.
If there is already such article explaining about "coverage" in this sense, please add disambiguation notice so that people would know where to look to read about it because the word "coverage" is used a lot in this sense in several countries. --MNH48 (talk) 18:36, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
