Where is the western teminus of CR 50?

[edit]

This page, and many other sources, say that CR 50 ends at Deer Park Avenue, which I agree makes sense. However, on the Suffolk County Website, if you go here: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/Home/departments/publicworks/trafficcounts.aspx and then select CR 50, when it lists each segment, it lists a segment as "SR109 to SR 231", implying that it extends west along one short block of Deer Park Avenue (actually south), and the entire length of Park Avenue.

If you click on the link for that segment, it takes you here: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/drive.net/Detail.aspx?sr=tc&id=8141

For placement, it says "200' N/O Ralph Ave". Since Ralph Ave intersects Park Avenue (but not any of the other streets that are part of CR 50), that further implies that Park Avenue (and one short block of Deer Park Avenue) is part of CR 50. Though I don't know why they consider Park Avenue to be north / south, when it's clearly an east / west street.

However, this section of the county website only lists Simon Street, John Street, and Union Boulevard as CR 50: http://www.co.suffolk.ny.us/Home/departments/publicworks/roads.aspx

As for signage in real life, there is no CR 50 signage at all within Babylon Village, and even the exit sign from NY 231 only lists John Street, with no mention of CR 50 or Union Boulevard.

This makes me wonder: where is the actual western terminus of CR 50? And, is any part of CR 50 within Babylon Village actually county maintained? It is rare for a county maintained route in Suffolk County to not be signed at all. Does Babylon Village even have any other county roads? CR 34 ends at the village line (although maps often show it extending to NY 27A); CR 12 ends at CR 96, just west of the village line (although maps often show it extending to NY 109 or even all the way to Deer Park Avenue); and I don't think CR 96 enters the Village at all. And I can't think of any other county roads that would enter the village. So, is it possible that maybe CR 50 as a county maintained route ends at the village line, and exists west of there only in theory, and is maintained by the Village? Also, are the traffic signals at Deer Park Ave @ Simon Street, and Deer Park Avenue @ Park Avenue owned by the County or the Village?

Still no response. Since the page currently contradicts the county website, a new source is needed, or the info on the route description should be either deleted, or modified to match the county website. Also, I don't know how to edit the info box, but, regardless of where the western terminus is, it is definitely not CR 34. Even if its western terminus is Deer Park Avenue, it is not CR 34 in that area; it's a village road in that area. 24.184.64.197 (talk) 03:08, 26 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]
That segment that list it as being 200 feet north of Ralph Avenue is part of the formerly proposed western extension. Everything west of Deer Park Avenue (unmarked SCR 34) is part of that never built extension. If I'd have known about this message, I would've responded earlier. ----DanTD (talk) 15:33, 4 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Question here - I grew up in West Islip near Union Blvd. I clearly recall it being renamed or maybe co-named Ronald Reagan Blvd. by Islip Town sometime in the early 90s. I even saw signs near 231 indicating this. One was eventually vandalized and the other disappeared. Is that name still legal, per Islip town? Possibly something that could be added to this article by someone with more information. 108.30.120.73 (talk) 03:52, 26 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]
