Needs cleanup/rewrite

[edit]

The main body text is some generally impenetrable academic text on the relation of country blues to folk music, not an encyclopedic description of country blues and its distinguishing factors. Can we get it flagged for cleanup/rewrite? --72.165.229.187 (talk) 18:13, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What's the total amount of surviving country blues recordings from pre-WW2 era? How many of them have been issued on CDs? Does anybody know? --128.214.205.6 10:56, 11 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

there were thousands and thousands of songs recorded in the pre war era, for a big cataloge check out http://document-records.co.uk/ —Preceding unsigned comment added by CoolJack2 (talkcontribs) 21:25, 28 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Have you thought about a query to the Library of Congress? Their staff did extensive research and recording of this and other musical styles for over 80 years. Trilobitealive (talk) 00:46, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:ClemensRag.ogg

[edit]

Image:ClemensRag.ogg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Additional info in list of artists

[edit]

The idea of adding additional info to this list is a good one, and is a much better reason for having a list than just giving a series of links. However, I wonder if it would look better in a table format. Headings would also make clear what the information is, which might not be obvious to a casual reader.--SabreBD (talk) 09:08, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Citation system

[edit]

This is I think the only major Blues article that uses the formal Harvard system. If there are no major objections I would like to covert it to a footnote based system, which would make it a lot easier to via material between here and other articles in the genre.--SabreBD (talk) 09:16, 6 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Sounds like a good idea.Trilobitealive (talk) 00:46, 7 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This article should be renamed "Acoustic blues"

[edit]

I would like to know why there is this article and not an article for "acoustic blues". This is the first I heard of "country blues." A quote from the beginning of the article states "The title "country blues" does not mean blending country music with blues music." This confusion could be avoided by retitling to "acoustic blues". 1archie99 (talk) 04:38, 25 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Except that we follow what reliable sources say and this is the term commonly used.--SabreBD (talk) 08:05, 2 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Is there a good reason for deleting the link to Commons?--Johnsoniensis (talk) 14:14, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

If it isn't a genre of country music, why is this genre called country blues? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:C7:C201:C640:F47E:5B35:8067:73AA (talk) 23:05, 1 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
