History
[edit]it sticks in my mind that this was discovered at anzio beachead with the SCR-584 radar set, this being the first time that radar was in close proximity, to incoming arty. Brian in denver (talk) 19:24, 5 June 2009 (UTC)
Counter-battery radar systems
[edit]This edit request by an editor with a conflict of interest has now been answered. |
The request is that the “AN/TPQ-53 radar” be added to the list of Counter Battery Radars and linked to the Wikipedia article “AN/TPQ-53 Quick Reaction Capability Radar” (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/AN/TPQ-53_Quick_Reaction_Capability_Radar ).
A Counter Battery Radar, as defined by this article, is “a mobile radar system that detects artillery projectiles fired by one or more guns, howitzers, mortars or rocket launchers and, from their trajectories, locates the position on the ground of the weapon that fired”. The Q-53 is identified as a counter battery radar on the Wikipedia page: AN/TPQ-53 Quick Reaction Capability Radar (https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/AN/TPQ-53_Quick_Reaction_Capability_Radar)Cite error: There are <ref>

Back to the future!
[edit]So the last line of the history section is this: "In another back to the future step it has also proved possible to add counter-battery software to battlefield airspace surveillance radars."
So besides the fact that Back to the Future was never mentioned before in this article, that sentence makes no sense. I would erase it, but I have no idea what the original author was trying to get across when writing it. So just leaving a note for the experts.
