Improving this page

[edit]

Cough etiquette will be different in different cultures and at different periods of history. Much room for expansion if sources can be found for this. Andrewa (talk) 07:34, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi dear Andrewa, that sounds really interesting. Best wishes, BoyTheKingCanDance (talk) 07:42, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
OK, perhaps you can help? I have little recent experience in referencing (I needed to look up the templates I used... perhaps the documentation on them could be made more helpful). I'll deal with the linkrot problem eventually. Obviously I need to do more research on the correct use of the templates.
I'd be surprised if references do not exist considering the interest that COVID aroused in coughs and sneezes as sources of aerosols. But finding them online is more of a challenge as many learned papers are now behind paywalls. Wikipedia does have some access to these sources, in the form of a limited number of free accounts, but I haven't felt that I would make the best use of one. University students also have access, as do members of the public using some University libraries, but since moving to the country I haven't investigated our local University.
I've added one category... is this enough to remove the uncategorised template do you think? If the article is expanded as I hope it will be (whether by myself or others... we are a collaboration after all) then Category:History of hygiene would also be appropriate. Why this page

[edit]

This page was created for the same reason every mainspace page I have ever created was created...

I looked for it, and it wasn't there.

Specifically, this edit which seemed a reasonable wikification turned up a redlink. So I first did some searches to see whether a mainspace redirect was possible, but they turned up nothing.

It has been suggested that the topic fails the GNG. If so I suggest that this shows that the GNG needs a tweak, and that meanwhile we should apply IAR as even a stub page on this topic improves Wikipedia. Andrewa (talk) 20:48, 4 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
