Harry Charlton
[edit]My name is Harry Charlton. I was the Chief Finance Officer at the South African Parliament and was responsible for identifying the Travelgate fraud. You will note that I keep winning my case against Parliament. Your comment suggests that 40 MP were involved. In fact 430 PM past and then present MPs were implicated. That number included 3 past MPs who were members of Mbeki's cabinet. Eileen Fey, the PWC partner and I now live in Australia and would be happy to provide documentary evidence of my assertions. My action against Parliament continues. Also the quantum of the Travelgate fraud was R37 million over 15 months. The fraud was perpetrated over a longer period but the penalties above a given amount would not change so the cost vs penalties were considered before limiting the period covered by the investigation. There are a number of Constitutional issues that make it an interesting matter. Sindiso Mfenyana (the good Secretary) was moved to Tanzania, Dr Ginwala (the good Speaker) was not returned by the ANC to Parliament (the party not the electorate decides who attends Parliament). Both were replaced by corrupt persons. Dingani as Secretary - recently fired for naughty activity. Mbete as Speaker - bought her driver's license and lied to Parliament about it. Not what Mandela ha promised. Anyway please let me know if I can assist.
Dingani bought other creditor's debt to prevent the investigation going forward. Lots more if you are interested.
