Plastic Bags
[edit]
As well intentioned as the piece on the plastic bags is, it looks out of place and is written in a journalistic style that does not really provide information about the village. Articles should be presenting facts in an unbiased fashion, not promoting ideas however well intentioned (i do like the campaign BTW).
This should be either smaller and toned down or preferably deleted altogether. As always i am open to counter-argument and reasoned debate. 18:29, 22 July 2009 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rimmer1993 (talk • contribs)
It has been three months since i first raised my concerns above over this section. As no-one has discussed against deletion, i have now removed the section. PLease supply reasons against my argument on this discussion page before restoring or undoing please. Rimmer1993 (talk) 20:02, 22 October 2009 (UTC)
External Links
[edit]Before I edit this section, i invite interested parties to discuss whether some of these links are breaking/stretching Wiki External Links rules. The Primary School link should be removed as it is already linked as an inline citation. The articles that reference the rail crash and the rail station should be references not links. I also believe most of the others should be inline citations as there are none at present in the article and these subjects are mentioned within the article. Over to you, if no responses in the next three months then i will edit.Rimmer1993 (talk) 11:53, 3 May 2010 (UTC)
There being no discussion since May 2010, I am incorporating some of the links in this section into the main article and deleting the rest as they don't follow Wikipedia guidelines an External Links sections i.e. Could not be related to any part of the main article or linked to personal webpages. Please use this page to discuss if you disagree with my actions.Rimmer1993 (talk) 17:19, 9 October 2010 (UTC)
Culture etc
[edit]Corrected information regarding the play area - its run by the rec, not by the council.
Please always sign your comments with a user name to engender proper discussion, you may be mistaken for a wiki vandal. It is noted this edit was made by someone at the University of Leeds. Your point about the Rec being run as a charity is quite true, but you mis-read the original entry. The only thing at the rec that was claimed to be run by the Parish Council was the children's' play area and i have provided the appropriate in line citation from York City Council web site to that effect. The Rec was not included in that claim, just that the play area was located there - coincidence. I have adjusted your entry to read more in line with an encyclopedia than a promotional leaflet.Rimmer1993 (talk) 21:53, 24 February 2011 (UTC)
Reworking of existing material
[edit]I have been working on reworking some of the suburbs and villages around York to conform to "WikiProject:How to write about settlements" format. This article about somewhere i once lived needs attention. I will leave most of the content in the article, but rework it to the appropriate style. Rimmer1993 (talk) 10:47, 24 October 2010 (UTC)
