Only quotes of encylcopedic value make sense in encyclopedia. Sergey Pryamkov quote is not only non-encyclopedic, it is plain stupid: there are multitudes of continental shelves that a shared between several countries. Russia staked claim for reasonably "their" slice of the ridge, not going beyond the North Pole. Canada can just the same, claim "their" part.

IMHO this whole piece of international reaction is just a Russophobic babble. When Americans planted their flag on the Moon, the corresponding wikipedia article does not go lenghts of insinuations that the Moon, rich in blue cheese, now belongs to America. `'Míkka 01:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are mixing apples and oranges. The Russian effort is related to a territorial claim and your comparison to the American landing on the moon is as hyperbolic as the reactions that you are criticizing.
But, more importantly, this is just your opinion and Wikipedia wants neither your opinion nor mine. If you can cite a reliable source who thinks that the international reaction is overblown and stupid, then by all means insert it.
Finally, according to your logic, the quote from Canadian Foreign Minister Peter MacKay should also be deleted as "stupid". It may be a stupid response but it is a notable one. The only question should be whether Sergey Pryamkov has sufficient stature to make a pronouncement on this matter. MacKay has the stature. Does Pryamkov?
I reverted your deletion of the Pryamkov quote pending a decision as to whether he has the stature to make a respectable pronouncement on this issue.
