merge Traffic control into Construction site safety
[edit]Traffic control is a specialized area of construction site safety. One of the differences is that it covers not only the safety of the workers but also of the driving public. A lot of other constuction safety issues really only pertain to construction workers themselves.
Oppose - traffic control also includes the actions of police officers in placing cones to divert traffic around a crashed vehicle. Addhoc 16:59, 15 September 2006 (UTC)
Yes, traffic control is broader than construction. I went ahead and tidied the article a little to help make that clear, but it still needs citations for some of the facts, and would be nice to add any non-US issues.Lisamh 01:00, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
Agree. Traffic Control -- even in the US!! -- is a specialised occupation entirely independent of the broader construction industry. I'm just beginning an "Australia" section, with rearrangement of the article. Gimme a couple of weeks. Gordon | Talk, 11 October 2006 @01:50 UTC
- OK, I didn't have anything better to do :( I've rewritten the intro and added quite a bit about Australian Traffic Control. I've also deleted one pic which wasn't relevant, and a UK outlink which wasn't relevant after my rewrite. I'm going to propose a RENAME to "Road traffic control" once we get the proposed merge out of the way. Gordon | Talk, 11 October 2006 @05:55 UTC
Actually, this merge thing has been hanging around since May this year. Since nothing has happened except me, and there is no-one in favour, I formally propose that the merge tags be removed. Gordon | Talk, 11 October 2006 @11:03 UTC

Globalize
[edit]I think this article needs to be expanded to reflect the countries outside the EU and USA, unfortunately I do not have the knowledge to do so. Thanks. --ADtalk 01:39, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
Is Work Zone Safety part of construciton site safety, traffic control, or its own topic?
[edit]I am intersted in developing a page on work zone safety. This topic brings the joining of worker safety and motrist safety together, which I assume is the source of the original proposal to merge construction site safety with traffic control. Is a Work Zone Safety topic with links to each of the other two topics logical?158.111.5.33 (talk) 14:12, 16 May 2011 (UTC)
I would classify the "Work Zone Safety" you are talking about as Road Construction Safety, which has some different aspects compared to general construction site safety. I would still put it under traffic control, unless you will specifically address other health/safety issues for road construction workers such as silica exposure, heat stress, etc. in addition to traffic control. dubious chart
[edit]France, Germany, and Italy make up enough of the EU that it seems impossible that the overall rate for EU could be a tenth of those countries and I can't find the numbers on the cited source — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2620:0:1001:8001:C80A:D2A7:483C:C9DE (talk) 20:36, 13 August 2015 (UTC)
