NPOV Issue in the article

[edit]

"However, on 6 October 1947, Pakistani Muslim tribes, supported by the government of Pakistan, hearing of Hindu atrocities in Muslim dominated Poonch region, attacked Jammu and Kashmir. To save his state Maharaja Hari Singh signed Instrument of Accession to India in mysterious circumstances, so that India could help in defending her."

I would say unless these can be documented it should be re-written to

" On 6 October 1947, Pakistani Muslim Tribes, supported by the Government of Pakistan, attacked Jammu and Kashmir. Faced with an existential crisis, Maharaja Hari Singh, signed the Instrument of Accession, to gain support from Indian Government Forces. The Instrument of Accession, Article 370 of the Indian Constitution, and the Jammu & Kashmir Constitution remain controversial for many reasons."

I have never seen any references to "Hindu Atrocities in Poonch", and the Accession document while signed under crisis, was never particularly mysterious. Hari Singh and Sheikh Abdullah, the two closest to the signing never questioned the authenticity.

Well, this is just a start-class article and needs a lot of work. However, see The Untold Story of the People of Azad Kashmir for the Poonch uprising etc. Kautilya3 (talk) 22:12, 2 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]
