Here are some comments:

  • This article is missing critical commentary on his poetry and photography. What did commentators as the time he published his work think of his material? What do recent academics, researchers, and other notable people say about his work, writing style, photography style, and other aspects? This will put him in context with his contemporaries and help the reader understand his contributions. This can be added to the Legacy section. The quote in the lede from Keshet should be included in this section and expanded upon.
  • After reading the article, I see that the lede describes some commentary about him, but this is not reflected in the body of the article. I suggest adding a "Themes" section that describes what commentators say about the content Shapiro wrote about (for example, that Shapiro's poems featured the Judaism religion, that he was conflicted about his Christian conversion, etc.
  • I also suggest that the article include a short list of his notable publications.
  • "He eventually left his hometown for Białystok and Vienna, and from there to St. Petersburg in 1868 to enter the Academy of Art, which he left after a short time to learn photography." This sentence needs to be cited.
  • "Shapiro fell gravely ill with typhus, at which time he found out that his Russian girlfriend was pregnant." When was this? Any dates?
  • "at once gained for him a place in the foremost rank of Hebrew poets." What does this mean? Did commentators at the time consider him to be one of the best poets? Who considered him one of the best Hebrew poets? Add this information to the article.
  • "was subsequently taken up by" -> "was subsequently used"
  • " and the basis for a well-known Israeli folk dance." What is the name of the dance?
  • "He also published "Turgenev ve-Sippuro Ha-Yehudi"," Add an English translation of this to the article.
  • There's a gap between 1883 and his death in 1900. What was Shapiro doing during this time? Add that info to the article.
  • "Rosenthal, Herman; Hurwitz, S. (1901–1906). "Shapiro, Constantin". In Singer, Isidore; et al. (eds.). The Jewish Encyclopedia. 11. New York: Funk & Wagnalls. p. 233." This is listed as a source, but not used as an inline citation. If it is a reliable source, I suggest consulting it and adding it as inline citations.

In the review, I marked some categories as "?" because I think I will have to reevaluate when more information is added. Great places to find additional sources are WP:LIBRARY, [www.archive.org archive.org], and databases provided by your local library. Let me know if you have any questions. • I am marking this as failed as the nominator has not been active on Wikipedia for over a week and has not responded to talk page messages and pings. This article can be renominated when the above concerns are resolved. Z1720 (talk) 12:53, 12 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
