I'm trying to find out about the rubella and congenital rubella outbreak of the late 1970s and early 1980s in the United States. I read that it was mainly reported on the west coast and Chicago, but I'd like to know whether anyone's reported rubella in New York and vicinity during that time period. I know of an outbreak in said city in 1983 to 1986, which was a few years later. Context: Rubella was nearly vanquished, by and large, when a slight uptick in cases occurred ca. 1978; it went back down by 1983, as far as the USA is concerned. This uptick was, or so I recall having heard, from an outbreak in various institutions in 1978-1981 or thereabouts. If anyone can be of any help, let me know. 204.52.215.107 (talk) 01:38, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]
