Confused
[edit]So the most obvious question remains unanswered: What are these beetles confused about? (Or more accurately, what's up with the name?) howcheng {chat} 18:31, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
The confused flour beetle is very similar in appearance and habit to the red flour beetle , Tribolium castaneum and the destructive flour beetle, Tribolium destructor. In fact, this similarity and the resulting confusion over the identity of the beetle is the origin of its name. HalfShadow 18:36, 11 November 2010 (UTC)
- Ah, so the beetle itself is not confused. :) Thanks. howcheng {chat} 19:55, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

I created a heading covering the beetle’s geographical range and distribution, specifically in colder climates such as the Northern regions within the United States and added a bit more about their natural enemies such as predators, parasitoids, and pathogens. I enjoyed reading this article about the flour beetle. I added more information about this beetle's life cycle, particularly as a larvae. I made changes to the cannibalism section so that it was easier to read and less redundant. I added a section in population control about a method that avoids chemical treatment and high heat. One question I had while reviewing the cannibalism section is about how cannibalism can be used in small populations to reduce extinction risk? It seems counterintuitive. comment added by Jaden.l17 (talk • contribs) 14:02, 21 March 2024 (UTC)
I rearranged some sections to fit the format of some other articles in the Beetles project. I also added a section in mating explaining bias towards virgin females, as well as assymmetrical courtship behavior. Beetles4life (talk) 04:37, 22 March 2024 (UTC)
I enjoyed reading our article about the interestingly named Confused Flour Beetle. I would suggest that the beetle is primarily referred as Tribolium confusum. This would overall change add a more professional attitude to the wikipedia page. I would additionally talk more about the life cycle and morphology of the beetle, for more description can add more specificity to the page. Overall, this wikipedia page was very informative and unique, with a good description of cannibalism and pest control.Sbimal (talk) 22:14, 11 April 2024 (UTC)
